Common Questions

How do I register my child for a PAL activity / program?
You can register your child for a PAL activity in the following ways:

1) Come to our office (222 E. Anapamu, Suite 21) and anybody at our office would be willing assist you with registering your child.
2) Download and complete the registration form for the specific event and mail it to P.O. Box 91121, Santa Barbara, CA 93190. We will contact you once we have received your application
NOTE: Some excursions and most summer camps tend to fill up quickly so we greatly encourage you to call the PAL office so we can advise as to the best means of registering.

Is my child eligible for PAL activities / programs?
All children are welcome! Children from any socio-economic background can participate. The only restrictions are age requirements per activity. For specific information on age requirements refer to the activities / programs page.

What is the cost of participating in a PAL activity?
All PAL activities / programs / summer camps are FREE! We only ask for a $15 registration fee for certain excursions. PAL is committed to serving low-income families by providing free programming and any further assistance needed.

Is transportation provided for your activities?
Free transportion is provided for all excursions. Free transportation for summer camp is determined on a case by case basis. Free transportation for our after school classes is provided from Santa Barbara Junior High and various other sites. Accommodations can always be made depending on the activity and the need.

Is PAL part of the Police Department?
PAL is part of the National Association of Police Athletic / Activities League Inc. This organization was funded to promote the relationship between police departments and the youth in their community. The Police Activities League receives in-kind support from the City of Santa Barbara and the Police Department in the form of personnel and facilities. The Santa Barbara Police Department provides leadership to the Police Activities League at the direction of the Board of Directors.

How can I volunteer?
PAL is always looking for individuals who are committed to helping the youth of Santa Barbara. Because we work with children and have strong ties to the Police Department, everybody is required to pass a LIFE Scan and background check. For more information on volunteer opportunities please contact the PAL office.
